Halloween Double

Was a very confusing Saturday night organising the morning session;

Me - "Meet me at 7 James"

James - "Is that new 7 or old 7?"

That's the way the conversation went on a for a while before we decided to meet at 'old' 7 we just decided to meet at 7 without moving the times at all, so it really was 6 we were meeting. Was a confusing start to a day that was well worth the confusion!

All went well and james was there at 6/7 . We took into consideration the huge amounts of water that had fallen during the week and ruled out fishing the lake we usually head to, even with the slightest bit of rain it floods and the fish just don't play ball. So it was a 45/50 minute drive in James' Massey, you might think its quite far to go, it was only 6 miles down the road

With the tube in the trailer i got it ready and went out for a trawl while james set up the rod pod and the ledgered dead bait rods.

I was probably wasting my time in all honestly spinning with the cold weather recently and the water was slightly clouded after all the rain, but i wanted to get out on the tube nonetheless.


Well with about 30mins fishless i headed back to the bank cause James was being pestered by some 'expert' who had arrived on the scene.

I don't mind people coming over for a chat but when they start to tell you how to fish and where to fish it just gets a little annoying!

"You won't catch in there boys, you have no hope!", that is what he said when i was setting up a sliding float rig to cast to possibly the most inviting, 'pikey' looking bay in our half of the lake!!



He stood around for a good bit waiting on his other partner, well while he was waiting and giving off about how we were wasting our time the float started to move, it was moving more and more so it definitely wasnt the wind and it was infact a fish there was a surprise! I struck into it and the rod bent in two straight from the start and the man's face started to go a bit red, especially after the pike that had snatched our mackerel tail weighed in at a very pleasing 15.5lbs.



He soon moved on to set up his own tackle, while me and James were thinking 'about time!'.

One more run and lost fish ended the morning, it was only a morning session as James had some work to do at home.

Even though it was only a short session it was a very rewarding one.

Magic Jason, lovely pike, looks a cracking bit of water too. Shame about the expert, met a few like him before, especially along the river bank. That`s a great pic of the pike you`d never catch Well done bud.

Cheers guys, i will hopefully be doing a night and day session there saturday night/sunday morning. So i will let you all know how i get on.

I will hopefully get a few nice Eels if i'm lucky, meant to be stuffed with them which is a rarity these day.
