Setting up my Baitrunner (Properly) I have a Shimano Baitrunner ST 10000 Ra and I'm trying to get it setup properly. I have read that to set the clutch on your reel, to have it set at 25% of your mainline. So for my 18lb line, 4.5lb of weight should pull it off the reel. Simples... on a normal reel. BUT... How does that work with a baitrunner reel? If I have it set at 4.5lb and turn my freespool on, the fish will never be able to pull the bait+line off my reel! And if I have it set really lightly that the wind would almost pull the line from my reel, then when I hook into a fish I'm going to have to play about with the clutch setting to tighten it up! WTF!?!? Help please!

Re: Setting up my Baitrunner (Properly) The set up for the clutch and the baitrunner are totally different you don't set up the clutch for the free spool they are independent systems. just imagine your setting up the clutch on a non baitrunner as per normal way then set up the baitrunner system a nice video for ya cammo man Last edited by NICK R; 10-20-2010 at 07:25 PM.

Re: Setting up my Baitrunner (Properly) Cheers Nick you're a legend! My problem was that I thought the 2 wheels on the back of the reel were for the same purpose... I thought the 1st one as a normal clutch adjuster, and the 2nd was to 'fine' tune it. Don't I feel stupid! lol. Cheers again mate. In saying that, to have the clutch set to suit my line (18lb line = set the clutch to 4.5lb) So I've the clutch turned the whole way to the right to suit this weight, I.e. It can't turn anymore! Can't be right surely?

Re: Setting up my Baitrunner (Properly) Cheers Nick you're a legend! Can i have that in lights lol How i set my up is tighten right up ,with reel in rod , thread line through eyes , pull on line , then slacken off until it just starts to slip thats it set, you can then slacken off or tighten up as your playing a fish Last edited by NICK R; 10-20-2010 at 08:14 PM.
