| Re: best sppons an spinners to use Most info I have read on pike fishing says that on dark days, or coloured water use bright coloured, more visible lures, and on bright days or clear water use more natural/subtle colours i.e. perch or roach colours for example. I am no expert but more experienced pike anglers I have spoken to also said the same. Also in the winter a lot slower retrieve is required so choose you lures accordingly. As for which lures or spoons to use, then your choice is endless, and it depends on how deep the water is etc. You cant go wrong with most of the popular makes - Savagegear, Storm and Spro lures but its all down to personal preference. A lot of people use various rubber shads and rubber lures in winter as they can be bounced slowly along the bottom in sink and draw style to tempt the big pike lying on the bottom. Also spinner bait lures are meant to be good - never really tried them myself, as they, like other spinners can be fished at various depths and speeds. I get most of my lures online from either http://www.agmdiscountfishing.co.uk/ or http://www.lure-world.com/ and harrissportsmail - http://www.harrissportsmail.com/ is also worth a look as they do free postage on most items. |

| Re: best sppons an spinners to use P.S. There are far more experienced, and better, pike anglers on this forum than myself, so no doubt they will be able to offer advice also |

| Re: best sppons an spinners to use In my experience there is no right and wrong answer, some people may say one thing and then someone else another, its all opinionated! All venues react differently to certain conditions, a bright yellow, green and orange lure might be working at one lake and the fish are taking nothing else but then 5 minutes down the road at another lake its the very opposite! My best advice would be to bring a nice selection of lures with you for over the winter months and experiment alot. I have found that reducing lure speed in winter produces some nice fish, its worth a go!
