Re: Gave up Piking...

Yes J mate that's the one!

We had a bitterly disappointing day! A few small roach and a load of tiny perch was all we managed. No big roach like the other night, and once again, no pike!!!! grrrrrrrr rarrrrrrrrr dammit!!!!!!! Seen a fella 2 pegs down pulling a small pike out though...

Strange how one night we were there we were getting bites flat out, and pulling big fish out, then 2 days later we're getting hardly any bites and what we did catch was tiny

So it's a year from i've caught a pike now, and i'm still awaiting that big bream!!

Re: Gave up Piking...

You aren't having much luck with the pike, i have no idea why because from what you have said you seem to be doing everything fine! :icon_thin I was out on Saturday night and had another nice double, 15lbs this time and a few other jacks. Still haven't had time to write up a report. We will get you a pike though, dont worry!

Have your tried lure fishing for them?

Justin

Re: Gave up Piking...

Yeah mate, to be honest after the bad day we were having I took a humpy head and was ready to throw all my gear in! lol. So i stormed off in a bad mood and had a smoke, then returned and packed most of my stuff up and just left my pike rod out and tried a few different spinners, a few different plugs and one of those rubber shad jobbies and not a thing!

Get to Loughgal country park! the match fishermen were being pestered by them today they told me. Fish the pegs 30-50 close to the lillies with a small dead roach under a float, Should do the job for you.

I was at the lake today and yesterday with work and had a few nice walks about it and had a few chats with the match fishermen they had caught a few decent roach about 1 1/2lbs along with plenty of smaller ones and few bream.

Peg 76 + 78 are meant to be good, fish to the far bank for roach and bream

Smashing looking lake and plenty of small roach about so there has to be bigger ones!

It's on the hit list over the winter for some carp!

Re: Gave up Piking...

Nice one mate, can I just ask, what sort of awesome job do you have!?

Trying to think where 30-50 are, i'm thinking down the right hand side of the lake from the car park. Cheers for the heads up!

In what way were the pike annoying the match men? and how did they know it was pike?

Will be giving it a go for carp myself some time!
