| big pike - little boy Took youngest to our local carp water today and made most of the good weather. Plan to do some carp fishing and he likes to fish a float short for the bream. While fishing I noticed something was chasing the small silvers in the margins and before I knew it my boy was connected to it. Size 12 hook and 6lb tippet. He played it all himself and just needed me to slip the net under it. His new biggest fish and PB at 17lb 4oz. He is delighted.          |

| Re: big pike - little boy Thanks for replies and comments. He went to school with a printed photo and was able to be part of the weekly celebration assembly. I know he is hooked for life and loves fishing. Keeps them out of trouble.  Next target this year for the two of us is a 20lb+ carp and a Catfish. This pike was caught on a float set up and red worm intended for skimmers. Think he must have had a small silver fish take first which the pike then grabbed. Pike was cleanly hooked in the scissors and very lucky for him to land it on a 6lb hooklength. Fish was weighed and sacked for photo so it was out of the water for only a short time. Swam away for another day and others. |
