Re: exeter canal pike

Hi Alan, Yep, as Dave says, its been very hard lately. Hopefully they will be coming on the feed either before or after spawning. Am possibly taking my son up the canal over the weekend, so am waiting to hear Pingu's report as he is going this afternoon. By the way,I have tried phoning Retallack Waters to see about day ticket but no reply, same goes for the email, however I know they are open as heard a bloke went down couple weeks ago and had some low doubles

A lot of people have had a poor Pike season, myself included. Only one double this season!

Re: exeter canal pike

Good luck for Friday Dave. I may manage to get down there next week sometime, fingers crossed. Dont know whether to travel light, flask, sandwiches, lures, lure rod n reel, and cover a lot of ground with lures, or sit up and snooze with some deadbaits (which also means I can take even more sandwiches and tea!). Havent heard of any lure caught pike for while in the canal, so may try the deadbait approach again, and wait another week or so before thrashing the water to a frenzy with some lure fishing. Anyway best of luck..

Re: exeter canal pike

I walked the entire stretch from Turf to Lime kilns and back the other day. Plenty of anglers about.

One guy on the opposite bank close the the MTB and derelict boat was spinning and caught a Jack. Bugger didn't put it back though. I've got his photo
