| pike hi there when a was buying my rod and reel the woman told me if i was lifting pike out with my hand to cover it because if you pick it up without covering your hand and you pull your hand back they can slice your hand open is that true or not ? ![]() ![]() |

| Re: pike i wouldnt advise lifting pike out with your hand until you are a lot more experienced and are used to handling pike, use a net mate, the place where you put your hand is very close to the fishes gills and a hand in the wrong place could severely damage them treat them with respect and above all dont be afraid of them happy piking |

| Re: pike good advice paul trouble is everybody watches fishing on TV and thinks that you arent a proper pike angler unless you "chin them out". There is nothing wrong with using a net. Anyway here is a link to the handling pages of the Pike Anglers Club click here __________________ Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain, Region 13 Devon. | Re: pike I would definately use a net until you are confident in handling pike like the others have said, and another tip would be to use semi barbed or barbless treble hooks, as 2 barbed treble hooks stuck in a landing net is one of the most stressful and agrovating things in fishing! __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release! |
