getting closer to the 30

visited an old friend today,my local lake that i have fished for 30+ years, i have neglected it recently having been on other waters, a good move,
got to the lake at 0430 to find only one other angler,he had been there for 2 days and was blanking,it didnt look good.
i selected an old favourite swim that has produced for me in the past,it is deep with some wonderful trees in the margins around an island
it was around this that i placed all 3 of my baits .
nothing happened at all,dawn came and went,i finally had some interest around 10 when a roach deadbait was taken,it went steaming off,on the strike i felt nothing,a dropped run,i reeled in and was about to rebait when my right hand rod went off,a lot slower this time,
this fish was definately on and it looked good,
a good 10 minute fight ensued and i knew it was special,it felt heavy,very heavy,
finally landed her at the second attempt and was quickly weighed in at a very satisfying 26lb 2oz ,

she was in absolutely A1 condition with not a mark on her,

i didnt get another bite after that despite staying until after dark,

they are getting bigger,that 30 might be coming along soon
