Looks like a photo shop. The pike looks the wrong in the pic.

The pikes heads to high for him to be holding it securely

Re: You have got to see this! Took my breath away....

Goes to show how tricky it is to tell right from wrong. The fish is legit. It was caught last year in the Alps in France and was returned safe and well .

It was caught by a guy called Sylvain Legendre who is a top lure angler. He took a quite a few self-take photos on a timer as he was fishing alone in the boat (hence the weird camera angles etc). The shadow is from something in the boat.

Anyway, it measured 137cm. He didn't have scales with him (in Europe the length is often measured rather than the weight). 137cm = roughly around the 50lb mark but it's very hard to guess exactly.

Few more photos here:

Re: You have got to see this! Took my breath away....

If you look closely at his lower arm where is rist begins, in proportion his hand would be pushing the fish away from him and not cradeling the fish. Also look at his reel on the rod hes right handed! Yet he is taking 50lb+ in his weakest arm. I myself would hold that weight with my strongest hand? not my weakest hand?

Re: You have got to see this! Took my breath away....

Well I reckon the photo is legit. If not someone went to a great deal of trouble to get them shadows right. Judging by the size and position of the shadows I'm either fooled or convinced. If it is real then my only thought would be how bloody close that set of razors is to the face. It would be possible to support such a heavy fish in the way shown as he is leaning back and the fish is probably resting on his body. Of course there could be an element of "hold it closer make it look bigger" but again the shadows seem consistent with the whole thing. Either a great catch or a great con, good job either way. He'd also have needed another person to help him and as there is obviously someone else in the boat (at least one) and who's to say he's not next to a quay anyway ?

My vote is a potentially gullible , blinking 'eck that's a massive fish.

Re: You have got to see this! Took my breath away....

The shadows do suggest this is being held closer to the camera. If the guy was on his own he might just have been making sure the fish was in shot. The picture appears to ezzagerate the fishes size. As has been said, it's still a bloody good fish though.
