Deadbait or Lures?

Im just about to start pike fishing again after a few years and I don't know which works best; lure fishing or deadbait.
Thanks for reading.

Re: Deadbait or Lures?

It's a very broad question mate. You need to consider the type of water, time of year etc.

Re: Deadbait or Lures?

Totally agree. Had fish on deads, lives and lures so far. Where I am fishing at the moment the fish are very active and seem to prefer a moving target.

Lives have done well as have wobbled baits but a few fish have also come to lures and deads. My theory being, is something isnt working change your plan for an hour or two. This weekend my mate had a dead bait fished just up from my swim where I was fishing a paternostered live. Neither us were catching so I hooked up a woobled bait and caught two fish in five minutes from the left of my mates deadbait float.Ten minutes later I had two paternosterded roach go simultamiously but they were the only takes on lives all day.

Whilst the weather is fairly warm I suggest you start with lures and see how it goes.
