Can anyone advise me on the pike fishing at Tiverton (Grand Western) canal?

Hi.
I am new to pike fishing, two trips to Exeter canal so far, but only 1 jack caught(though I am confident I will do better next time). I just wondered if Tiverton canal is productive for pike? All I have heard in passing is that it has mainly small jacks in it. Looks a very nice canal to fish though, very scenic, but once again, like Exeter canal, it is a lot of water to cover for pike. Any particularly productive areas? or tactics?. Have heard too that there are some decent perch in there, but not sure if that is correct or not.
Thanks
Baz

LOTS of small jacks some bigger fish though. It is still very weedy at the moment we need a few hard frosts. I live about 400 yards from the canal so fish it quite a lot. I have had fish from all along it. I lure fish it and tend to cover 1 - 2 mile stretches at a time.

Hi Count Zero, Thanks for the info. I do fancy trying the canal, and would probably do like you- lures and wobbled deadbaits etc. At least if there are lots of jacks it stops u blanking, plus the chance of a bigger fish.
