Was thinking of trying River Culm, Killerton area

Have neverfished for pike in a river, and only experience so far is couple of trips to Exeter Canal, but have heard the Culm can be quite good, and believe Killerton stretch is covered by Exeterd day ticket. Can anyone offer me advice on whether it is worth trying over the winter for pike (though no doubt is fairly flooded at present due to rain), and any hints/tips for fishing the Culm for pike (or any river pike for that matter) would be much appreciated.

The Culm at Killerton is covered on the exeter day ticket. It is worth trying over the winter for pike, try and find some of the deeper spots where the pike tend to lie in wait.

there are some good pike in the culm, i have yet to connect with them
planning a trip with phill once flooding goes down

is best fished with lures or if useing deads be prepared to be mobile

This is the Culm just outside my window. It's normally just the other side of the tree on the right. You can see the Exe in the middle distance

Thanks for the info lads, even my wellies are big enough to wade through that. Looks a nice river to fish though, cant wait to give it a go...
