pike behaviour

I was talking to a fellow angler as my brother hooked a pike [thought it was a salmon ] and he gave me the impression pike ran up the river is this true or are they territorial?

if he is trying to give you the impression that pike migrate then he is wrong,pike can be territorial but it depends on the food source, if their food source ( other fish ) wander upstream or downstream then old esox will follow
