| Double Venue Day.. hi everyone, long time no speak I am having technical problems at the minute it seems to just be with forums, it takes up to a minute to load each page and when loaded some features don't work correctly...I have had a few outings in the past month, all with average results i have had nothing stand outish, a few at about 8lbs and a few smaller, all in all not bad. Well tommorow we are heading to are usual haunt for an early session and then later moving to a much larger venue, mostly just for a change of scenery and hopefully a few more pike .Its nice to be back again, BW __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release! |

| Re: Double Venue Day.. We'll it wasnt as early as a morning as first thought, we forgot that are method of transport to are first venue was on a tractor, the problem was that it had no lights!! so we couldnt set off in the dark, it was around 7 by the time we got to the lough. We set up with ledgered mackerel and ledgered eel section to a range of about 30 feet, it turned out to be a very dissapointing session with only one drop back, in saying that we only stayed a few hours cause we wanted to head on to th next port of call. It took us a while to get there on are slow but steady mode of travel, and it took us a while to find the spot we were told to fish. ![]() Front of Swim ![]() Side of Swim It was also slow to get going with are first run after about an hour and half which unfortunately we missed ![]() As we were waiting on the Dead Baits i set up a spinning rod to see if i could hit into anything, well i had a follow from a pike on the first cast on a small spoon, but the weed was proving difficult to deal with, so i decided to put on a surface lure, it was a popper, which took a while to get used to. It was not long until a pike came up for the plug but missed it, it also happened once more but that was the end of the action on the lures. Next time i really want to get one off the surface. The fish started to show after lunch time, it was not the biggest pike i have ever caught and it is most likely the smallest but it was nice to get a fish from a new venue, ![]() The next fish was a bit bigger, around 4.5lbs and then the next was the biggest of the lot at 5lbs. ![]() Upside down?? It was a very rewarding day as the venue is massive, that picture of the swim isnt even a 50th of the lough, it really is the biggest lough around my area, and i'm sure it holds some crackers. I'll be back on sunday to see what i can do again, BW __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release! |
