| Drumnavady Lake 30th Sept report well i set off alone at 10:30am, as all my fishing buddies were at work, to get my dead bait and lunch sorted, i arrived at the lake at around 11:15, i brought 3 rods as i hear there is tench up there and i intended on fishing one of my rods for tench, but forgot about the tench bait lol. It was a dull cloudy day, but i was confident the rain would stay away. I got my first rod set up and simply threw on a trace and a lamprey as bait. I cast it out and got my seat set up and my comfort sorted. There were about 30 bulls in the field next to me and they all started running over towards me, scared the s!*t out of me lol, i went away and tried to find another spot with no provail, so i text my mate and asked him the craic on bulls. He told me they're just nosey go on about my business and eventually they'll go on about theirs, so i did and eventually they moved away i came back over to my rod and went to recast it, only to find i had one on. and boy did it fight, it was just stripping line off my reel, i had to stop it. 3 times it went on a big run and all i cud do was use my fingers to slow down how quick the line was coming off my reel. After a 10minute or so fight, i got it reeled in, and it was a beauty. I forgot my scales AGAIN!! so i guestimate at around 15/16lb. picture could be better but i had photographer... lol So i just left the other 2 rods sitting not set up, i decided if this was how the fishing was going to be i wouldnt need them lol. but as time went on i started to think otherwise, at about 12:30 i got the other rod set up an in the water... i could see the weather was beginning to take a turn for the worse ![]() at about 1pm i got another run, only to have it jump out of water and spit my bait out. This didnt bother me cause it was a smaller pike than my first.. I eventually got the 3 rods in, and whilst reeling one in a pike took me on the surface, i landed it but it took me too long to get hooks out of its mouth so i just put it back without pic, it was around 4/5lb. I got another run at around 3:30 and it felt big, but it tore its way off my hooks as i had still bits of the pike on my hook when i reeled it in. I packed up and went home at 5 o clock cause i had footy. All in all a good days fishing, i have wanted to go back up there for over a month now, and i was not disappointed. __________________ Fishing for a lifetime, not a past-time. |
