my pike so far.....

hi guys, just thought id stick a thread up on a few of my catches!

i started fishing for pike about 5 months ago and since then i've had the bug!!

ive been out as much as i can, and taking plenty of stick from the missus for abondoning her!!

well my first pike was caught at loch vennacher, and was about 6 or 7lbs, i was chuffed to bits!! didnt pick it up though cos i wasnt used to catching fish that size, and with big teeth!!!!

[IMG][/IMG]

my mate unhooked it and got it back in the water! i soon got to grips with how to handle them, still a bit weary at tims, specially on a boat!! but always get them back unharmed and unhooked!

i started to fish loch ard quite alot, where we always catch, but we are still waiting to take a double out, plent around 8lbs, but the best ive managed up there is 9.5 lbs

[IMG][/IMG]

the 9.5

i got a pb a couple of weeks ago, at loch ken, weighing in at 10.5lbs and i was over the moon at hitting my first double! i took in 10 fish over the weekend with 20 being caught between 4 of us! and my mate got one at 18.5 which was a pb for him too. no photos though ;(

then at the weekend i went to a small bit of water ;) just down the road and pounded my pb with this beastie

bang on 13lb, i was loving it!!!

the winter has still to come in, so i hope to add to my tally!!

cheers for reading

ross

cheers mate, i wouldn't mind joining you for a day, to see how the pros do it!! lol, im fine with handling and unhooking them to be now, as ive been doing it for a few months and caught a few fish. still cautious of the old gill rakers, but confident!

and i've only fished the vennacher 3 times and had one fish, i preffer reedy bays rather than open water, have you any tips for shore fishing the vennacher?

Re: my pike so far.....

good job on the 20!! i only dream of them, and i know there will be bigger fish out in the open water, but i find that around reeds i have a better catch rate. even though they are mainly jacks and low doubles. i've not given up on the vennacher, and quite fancy getting a boat out up there soon!
