| pike tried to nail my trout hooked on the fly, check this out was fly fishing at my local water and had 3 nice over wintered rainbows from one of my fave points (place is C&R only), this is the same water iv had some nice double pike from too. i should have known to move from the area as there is a pike around the 15lb mark known to stalk a nearby reed bed, i thought id stick with it and go for another trout trying to entice a nice brownie who is known to frequent the same location. anyways i hooked into another fish and had a good old fight for a min or so then the fish just seemed to go to ground! now i know there was no underwater snags so i pulled a little and it felt like i was dragging a dead weght in, heres the result; ![]() there was large puncture marks on the other side of the fish too the fish was over 2 1/2 the pike let me bring it right into 6 in of water then just slowly let go an swam round ina a circle to face the bank again! needles to say this trout had to be despached and was eaten by a neighbour, thought this would be kinder than allowing the pike another go at it lol |
