My first pike!!!!!

Me and my dad went lure fishing on a small pond. There was a small island in the middle of the pond which we cast out towards as that is where people I know told me the pike usually are around there. After a couple of hours my dad had packed up his rod and told me that this was my last cast. I was using a pro shad. I cast towards the island and jerked the shad along the bottom then reeled it in a bit. After doing this several times a pike took the lure. It jumped out the water twice but after 5 minutes managed to land it. We didn't have scales but we definetly know it was double figure. Probably around 13lb to 15lb. It was a great first pike and I hope to have many more.

Re: My first pike!!!!!

dont mean to burst your bubble mate sorry, but to me, judging by the size of the pikes head, your arm, and your glove in the pic, id say that aint a double, not even close, i hope im wrong and hope others disagree but im an avid pike man and to me that doesnt even look half way to a double. i wont give my estimate as i dont want to be mean (or meaner than i have been!) sorry
maybe the pic doesnt do it justice and it is a 15lb'er but what do the rest of you think?

still, its the summer and a fish of 4-5 lb is a good pike for this time of year, hell any pike, especialy your first is a good un!
well done and again sorry but i just thought i had to post this, no hard feeling i hope
all the best on your next piking trip

i can see what your saying with the picture but could be out of perspective. if the chap has another photo then this could be put to rest otherwise it could be a case of mis-calculation?

Re: My first pike!!!!!

heres a 14lb'er, see what i mean manny, if you take the pic of the pike like this then there can be no doubt of the size/weight.

i hope i am wrong troutmaster and he did get himself a nice double but personally......still a good fish tho

soz bout the size of the pic lol
