John Gobles 45lb 8oz Pike DEAD?

Can anyone confirm the rumour going round that John's fish was found dead recently, post spawning?

Any details where/when by whom???

Hopefully it's just a rumour and a smokescreen to deter the armada of Anglers trying to home in on her..................

Re: John Gobles 45lb 8oz Pike DEAD?

hi all, as i live in norfolk and living only 10 miles from the area where it was caught, i have heard no such rumour, i would believe it is a idea to stop the pikeing "circus" shall we say decending on the thurne, but having fished it myself for a few years now they had better be prepaird for many a blank day as it is a very difficult system, so we can all still live in hope, and im sure that the thurne, bure or wensum will give us another"monster"soon, good luck all, tight lines...

I know those blanks so well, have been fishing Hickling, Horsey and River Thurne seriously since December 2005....can be fantastic or nothing, it's not an easy area by any means and not everyones cup of tea....sorts the men from the boys!

A nice 16lb'er on Hickling

Re: John Gobles 45lb 8oz Pike DEAD?

thats a lovely fishby any standards,as i live in horstead, just by the mill, i have been fishing the higher reaches of the bure, with some good results, fish upto 23lb by just walking along the banks and letting a large smelt trott along under a float. you can cover a bit more water, if you have to travel down from devon, if you need any info on where is fishing well/poorly drop me a email and il let you know whats happening on the "grapevine" its took me many years to find a few good places, and its a long way to travel for a blank. tight lines.

A lot of it is all about being there...the crack

Fish or no fish we come for the Jolly, a few days away from 'er in doors, the peace and quiet that Hickling offers
