Best Day of the Year

Got up to go fishing at a new earliest time of 3.00 am, but all i can say is i am so glad i did so. My friend james and I, were trying to introduce another friend to the sport so were hoping to get him a few fish, and we were not dissapointed.

We arrived at the lough at about 3.30 and set up, with 3 rods, all on different baits although they were on the same set up. They had roach, makerel and smelt ledgered around 30-40 foot range.

The first pike came within 20mins of setting up and was had to the ledgered smelt. It was a very hard fighting 8lber.

It was even fiesty on the bank and had a nice chew on my hand, i'm not entirelt sure how it happened because i was using the gag and a long pair of forceps, so all the blood on the fish does not belong to them so dont be alarmed I ended up having to tie some line around my finger to stop the bleeding but i have learnt a lesson, and that is to bring a few plasters and bits and pieces with me in the future.

The fish today compared to other days on this venue were alot harded fighting with numerous pike tail walking and making loads of dives for the lillies.

The pike kept on coming very regularly, and some times we even had two fish being played at once, and this can be a real problem , but i am defineltly not complaining.

There was so many being caught i only managed to get photos of a few of them, but you have to trust me in how many we caught . Here are most of the fish:

Adam's first Pike

We managed a total of 18 pike averaging 6lbs and had them up to 9lbs. I had also planned to get a bit of roach fishing done for the species hunt but was "plauged" by so many pike it was not overly succesful, but i did manage the roach i was after and a nice surprise perch, it was the first perch i had ever heard of coming from this lake, so it was a nice bonus.

We ended the day at around 12 noon as everyone was feeling the early start. With out a doubt it was my most enjoyable session since the holiday at anglers paradise.

I was really tired at the start of the morning but was soon woke up with the amount of pike.

I forgot to put the pic of the first pic in;
