 Best Weekemd for a Long Time Hi all, The constant nagging by myself to my parents paid off with them letting me have a short break from my studying  . But it was only allowed to be a short session so we decided we would make the most of our oppurtunity. We once again headed to our local lough in search of the pike, but it was the earliest we had went to target the species, at around 4.30am we had got the the bank and were setting up , but we left at around 9.30am to please the parents.    The Lake looked wonderful at this time of morning and there wasnt a breath of wind We had 3 rods on the alarms and 2 on Floats, The floats were the ones to have the first action of the session with some activity on the float we placed on the other side of the reeds, It amounted to nothing. The first fish of the morning came to a ledgered mackerel tail and it was a fiesty fish and tail walkedon two occasions, the fish was caught just after 5.30am. I dont know how it came about but we forgot the weigh the fish  What would you give me for it ??  Another fish soon followed at about 5.45am this time it fell to a float fished roach. It had a large mark across its back and down its sides were another much larger pike had had a go at it, the marks must have been about 7 or 8 inches wide . This fish was followed by two much smaller jacks of about 3 and 4lbs, at about 7.30am and 8.00am.  All in all it was a very pleasing session and it gave me a break from the amout of studying i have in the coming week.
