The only pike ive seen fall to maggot was a jack about 5lbs , my dad on the river Teith , was this a freak or is it common practice to fish for pike on maggot alone?

Re: Maggots for pike?

maggot caught pike are usually a case of the pike feeding on the small fish that is eating the maggot,
if you want to catch pike its fish bait or lures mate

Once again on the retreive, the boilie spins like a lure, and bang! Happened on my local carp lake last month. It's only around 3 acres and the pike weighed 18lb !! No one knew there was a pike in there, including the staff!

Suffice to say I've tried a couple of times for her, had one dropped take on sardine, nothing else
