Smile Pike Fishing, West Lothian, Scotland

Hey guys im joined this forum to get some help and advice on my pike fishing. I have been trying to catch one for a while at the local union canal on dead baits and lures but nothing seems to be working. Does anyone know of any other locations in West Lothian (around Livingston) that are good? I have never caught one before and i rly rly want to get one on the bank! Any advice would be helpful! Thanks! :)

Re: Pike Fishing, West Lothian, Scotland

if your old man would take you up to forth (not too far from west calder) theres a place called springfield reservoir, lovely big pike in there, (its just past forth) im going myself shortly as this is a top time for the big hen fish!
not too far for you if your in Livi, much more chance of getting a couple of nice fish there than the canal, though i know some good spots on the union too! (where the polski's aint found yet!)

pumpherston pond used to be great for pike an perch, even had a couple of carp in there too, also forrestburn reservoir outside harthill used to be pretty good for pike, roach, perch an wild broonies that was untill some certain eastern european gentelmen started getting a taste for pike and perch, oh and carp, roach............

Re: Pike Fishing, West Lothian, Scotland

Ive looked into pumpherston pond a few times and ive actually been a walk there and talked to the local fishermen (the odd 2) and they said the pike vanished. On the canal i normally start in Ratho, at the canal centre, and then walk to Broxburn. Its a fair walk and i cast while i walk and stop at certain bits (good looking turning bay about halfway) but still no luck. Ill look into the lakes u told me about and ill take a trip out there ASAP. Thanks for the help man!

Re: Pike Fishing, West Lothian, Scotland

i have fished the canal and its not bad. but there is not much pike in it now and are spreed out so finding them is hard but a wee tip that my help is get a tin of tuna. and put a hole in it in both side's and thread string or fishing line though it and put it in the area were you wish to fish. and tie it off some were on the bank. this is so you can recover the tin once you are finished fishing. the smell and the oil's in the tin will cover a good size area and will bring them in. and just pop your bait some were around it. but if you can try and do this a few hrs before you start fishing. if not don't worry but do it as soon as you get to were you are going to fish. hope this will help you.....good luck.
