Well i made it this time after my failed attempt 2 weeks ago during the snow.
Arrived just as the sun was coming up decided to give woodford bank a try deep water close in so not having to cast too far still think a bait boat would be very useful here.
Not a breath of wind the lake was like a mill pond




Nothing for the first hour and a half then whalst on the phone the right hand rod is away bait runner screaming not like a pike take struck and connected for a few sec then nothing i think it may have been a greedy trout picked up my smelt.
Anyway not much else happend only saw a couple of fish out from other anglers, so thought i would give the lure ago before i left and after a couple of cast bang fish on after a short fight had a nice little pike in the net.



Nice little pike with a plump belly must be feeding well prob about 9lbs still saved a blank and some more points for the hunt, will have to wait till oct now for that thirty

looks like a cracking place to fish. i bet there are some monster carp there. well done

not sure on the carp front mainly a trout fishery that opens up to pikers for pike trials in the winter
there have been a few large perch caught and i have heard there are some large shoals of roach.
There are some monster pike but who knows what lies beneth such a large area of water

Well done Lee. Chew's a cracking peice of water, although i've only ever fly fished it. I've had perch to around 2.5lb on the fly and the odd Jack Pike although I did see a 38lb Pike caught on the Fly at a Civil Service fly competition a few years back. Dognobbler witnessed the same fish.

The jolly old boy who came to have a chat with you today was none other than my old man who I am out with on the boat in the morning....He said he was chatting to a guy on woodford who had been out troubling zander a couple weeks previous....weird small world!
