| pastures new a good result went on my wanderings today,to a lake not far from here that i have fished many times for tench but never for pike,it is a lake that has always tempted me to try and finally i did it, got to the lake in the dark and feared the worse,two other lakes i drove past were frozen solid but to my amazement this one wasnt,due to a stream running through it or something, sunrise revealed a frozen landscape  i had to wait until 0930 before i had any interest in my baits,a whole small herring i had flicked round a corner was taken with a slow run,after a short struggle i lifted out a rather heavy fish,( i had to chin him out as my net was frozen to the ground !!) the fish was a beautifully marked creature and pulled the scales down to a very satisfying 19lb 11oz,   i wanted more,but try as i might i only got one other take and that resulted in a rather lively jack of about 7 pound or so, dont you just love it when a plan comes together     |
