| bloody hell ! that was cold arrived at the lake at my usual stupid time and was fishing and comfortable before first light, there was ice in the margins and it was freezing,the wind was an easterly blowing straight down the lake and added a chill factor of about -10, nothing at all happened at daybreak but i was treated to a spectacular sunrise  my first action came at around 9 when the half herring i had put under a far bank tree shot off,i struck into what felt like a heavy fish,it gave me a few dodgy moments with some marginal tree roots but i quickly had her netted,she pulled the scales down at a satisfying 15lb 9oz , not a bad start to 2009 ,  the fishing was rather slow after that,i had 3 dropped runs in the space of an hour each on the same bait in the same place  ,small fish i believe ,all was quiet during the afternoon apart from a jack of 5 or 6 pounds coming to a popped up smelt ,this got unhooked in the water , a good result on a day when it would have been easy to stay at home in the warm,     |

| Re: bloody hell ! that was cold well done, fish in the bitter cold always warm you up, I recall getting a pb carp when Ice was beginning to from in the margins, glad I sat it out and felt warm when it went into the net. |
