Re: what line and set up HELP!

For casting large baits i use a 2/34 tc rod I like the rod to be a little more giving under the rod tip. matched with a large type reel . i use a shimano ultegra 1200 , as i use the baitrunner system .
I fish this with 50lb braid

Thanks Nick
I was beginning to think you pike fisherman were a bit snobbish and didn't want to talk to a fly fisherman.

Re: what line and set up HELP!

It dosnt have to be dear mate.

In ireland if fishing for trout theres no liecence and most of the loughs are free.

and a fly set-up is no dearer than any other.

Re: what line and set up HELP!

i use a 3lb tc rod with nothing lighter then 15lb bs line , if you are intending winding up a big cast with a sizable bait dont forget a shock leader, just in case !

Yes mate its mine! whatever type of fishing you do you're not far from it there.
Last year i had a few pike in double figures when i was salmon fishing, so thought i might target a real big one,
The locals shot them when there spawning, iv seen them to 40lb its a bloody crime.

Dont know about the carp but the sea fishing is superb.
