Re: Piking up the Tone!!

culm is fishing well but its hard work....
id fish the tone.... loadsa of pike plus some massive chub
we just lure fished it, i reckon if i landed every pike that hit our lure we would of had 40+ pike and saw 3 well over 15lb!! nothing like that showing in the culm yet!!
but if ya want to trot maggets your kill the place for chub to over 5lb easy!! touch ledger cheese in there we had chub over 6lb last winter

Re: Piking up the Tone!!

Sounds like a cracking session. Do I need any angling club licence? Or is it just your normal rod license?

Re: Piking up the Tone!!

yeh was a bit chilly . . . .
yeh your need a taunton standard licence to fish bellow firepool weir. but above the weir if your wanting to chub fish its a free stretch and there are 5-6lb chub everywhere in the town centre, all u need is mild cheese

Re: Piking up the Tone!!

all the best pike swims are bellow firepool, in wot they call the fast stretch if ya want to target the nutter pike then i would fish the fast stretches only TJ. id lure fish the whole lot or just target the deep runs after wiers by stret peggin it (fishing at least 6ft over depth, with bait nailed hard on the bottom. using the bow in the line through the current to set the float flat, then wen ya get a sniff at ya bait the float will just errect and pull away!) other than that u could wobble big sardenes as those pike are eatin 2-3lb chub!! then soon as ya see action wack a float out!
if any of you want more in depth tips concernin pikin in the south west just PM ill sort ya out
Danny
