out and about

Hi All

I'm off to Gloucester canal later to lob a few lures around.
Bought some Savage gear soft baits and want to give them the once over.
Also recently bought a couple of their rods.
Seem well built for the price with fuji fittings etc. (Bushwhacker and MP Spin).

Been looking on E Bay and came across York Carp Centre who are selling Zalt lures and also Zalt Rods.
the rods are reasonably priced and all come with Fuji bits and cork handles.
Might get one to have a look at.
Anyone else have one of their rods?

Spent four hours on Gloucester canal earlier today.
Never seen so many people lure fishing before.
No wonder I blanked, all the bloody Zander and Pike were killed by the continuous barrage of lures including my own.
Seriously though, weather was very cold and whilst the sun was out and about it was bitter.
One sensible soul set up his deadbait rods and pods and snuggled up into his seat.
He looked contented at least ,even though he had little to show for his persistence.

I have only started fishing the canal this last few weeks but something tells me that when summer comes around, the bank will be lined with lure anglers (?) heaving for all their worth;Not my cup of tea really, crowds, bit like feeding time at the zoo.

At least it give me a chance to try out some of the Savage Gear softies.
They appear to work really well as to their action, especially the Shads.
Also tried one of their Four Play hard bodies, beautiful life like action and I'm sure would work great in summer.
Good luck to all you hardy souls who venture to the waterside today; I'm just going to thaw out.

It was very cold Paul. Don't mind the blanks really, fish will come again in time.
All a new experience for me. Even though I have been coarse fishing for years, I have never targeted predators except Perch. Looking forward to my first Pike and Zander.

Unlucky mate but I know what you mean by the crowds taking 4 the pot . Just nobody does a thing abought it and at this rate the canal will be empty of any fish over 4oz !!
