back in the groove

its been a long time since i last got to grips with the pike,i had been looking forward to it all week,
it was getting light as we arrived at the lake,we being my son and i,if i was on my own i would have been there 4 hours earlier

it was a long walk to one of the remotest parts of the lake and it was rather cold
we soon got comfortable in one of my old favourite swims,i had 2 dropped runs early on and finally got off the mark when my legered joey mackerel was snapped up from under a far bank tree,i had quite a battle with this fish which battled it out in the margins and even jumped clear of the water,
it was eventually expertly netted by mike and turned the scales at a satisfying 14lb 10 oz , not a bad start,

one hour later i had a sharp drop back and a very lively 7 pounder came my way,
that i'm afraid is that,as is often the story at this lake i had no interest in my baits all afternoon,mike my boy unfortunately blanked,his day will come,
i'm still trying to sign him up to the forum
