Re: Pike Fishing Rigs

like dan i use the top one for my deadbaits and the bottom one for my suspended dead baits,
the top one is fine for wobbling your deadbaits as well, just put the bottom hook a bit nearer the head and put a bend in the fish,hey-presto! a wobbler,

The only problem with using the top one for wobbling is that you would be dragging the fish through the water backwards ! It probably still works but i like to use the middle example for wobbling my deads mate, its horses for courses though !

Re: Pike Fishing Rigs

i use a bit of a modified version of the 3rd one. i have the bottom hook through the muscle underneath the fin, and the top one where it is in the picture. i missed very few bites last winter because of this and i don't think i ever did have a dead bait come off when casting or reeling in.

Smile Re: Pike Fishing Rigs

Hi Richard

The rigs are useful, I have caught a few pike but only small ones - biggest being 10lb. Could you show an example of a simple carp rig - what size hook etc and type of bait - I have never specifically fished for this species so any advice would be appreciated.

Regards

Debs

Re: Pike Fishing Rigs

I use something similar to the top one, but I wind the line round the shank of the top hook a couple of times and slide a piece of rubber tube over it, so it doesn't slide down the line.

If you use the top 1 as it is shown mate you shouldn't need to bind the hook to stop the rig from slipping as it is only a trace attached to the mainline. If i have misunderstood what you are trying to explain then i'm sorry but it sounds like you are trying to fix a problem that isn't there brian..........no??
