| another 6 hours hunting the mythical beast now i know as soon as i post this what baggies reply will be, but being the optomist i am still certain there are some pike left in the canal so undeterred by my inability to catch one of these beautifull toothy critters since 25th oct 2007 . I headed off to the canal at stupid o clock this morningmanaged the even trickier bit of loading car/leaving without wakeing son/family as well ![]() got there sometime between 5.30 and 6 ( who counts at that time in the morning ) andfound someone was in my lazy swim ( never seen anyone else here , found out later he was blanking in style on the carp), so set up left hand end of dock/landing stage , still right beside car though, so had comfortable seat , and after setting up enjoyed a cracking sunrise![]() as you can by car door in left of pic i really wasnt very far from rods ( usefull if you ever ( mmm ever????) get a take ) ![]() well i played the waiting game here untill 9.30 when the smell from the factory behind/ lack of any action /need for local mc donalds restroom ![]() where i sat until 12.30 with conditions getting brighter and brighter did at least meet someone who says had seen one of these mythical canal pike 2 days ago( and told me where) so theres still hope ( actually i am always hopefull , just ask the bank manager ) highlight of day was seeing the yellow wagtail thats been about for a while and was my friend for an hour ![]() and a pint of this on way home ![]() very nice but i now have seriously challenged myself to find a pike before it becomes a year long blank ![]() so 14 days and counting, ![]() watch this space ![]() ![]() ![]() dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives Last edited by pingu; 10-10-2008 at 03:11 PM. |

| Re: another 6 hours hunting the mythical beast well done on your persistance mate,my advice to find the fish is to go to the most remote part of the canal.an area that sees few anglers, the swims you have been fishing are sure to be popular ones, any swim where you can park close is popular, but such pressure will ultimately send the pike looking for quieter areas, pike thrive on neglect and in places that are remote and lightly fished might just hold the key for you mate |
