| I have never done much pike fishing, but with autumn aproaching I want to give it another go and was wondering what the best way to fish a large gravel pit for pike would be. The pit is about 25ft deep with lots of features like willows, weed and rocks. I'd graitful for any advice. Last edited by captain hook; 08-08-2008 at 04:12 PM. Reason: spelling |

| Well what I would do is to chat to as many anglers on the gravel pit as possible and try and find out were the silver fish ( roach ect ) shoal up for the winter.Or where the deep parts are. If you have a smartcast then you can use this to find the wholes or gully were the pike may hold up in ambush. Dont be scared of traveling light when you start off pike fishing on a large water. This way you can give it a few hours and if you get no takes then its easy to move on and try another peg. Also work your bait and dont just let it sit there for hours on end. Spinning or plugging is get fun and also helps you cover a large area in a days pike fishing __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |
