Gloucester and Sharpness canal, Can someone help!!

Hi, I'm looking to go fishing between Purton and Slimbridge, i have a fishing license but is this free water or do i need a pass to fish here, if i do need a pass could someone tell me where i can get one, its a great canal and i used to go fishing there when i was 11 / 12 yrs old,And any pointers would be greatly appreciated,many thanks chris

Hi chris you are supposed to get a day ticket from the bailiff that comes round, i have fished the canal several times a week for the last 6 years and only paid twice. Just keep a fiver in your pocket just in case. It depends what you like to catch, 5-8lb bream are the easiest thing catch in my experience. There are supposed to be big carp in there but i have never been able catch them. Most of the fish in there are good quality and relatively big.
