Peter-Pike is on a distinguished road
My best fishing trip so far

Today (Saturday) i went pike fishing with friends and brother in st ives river.
It started quite slowly, no pike for a while but about 2 roach. Suddenly my brothers lure shot off and he had a pike. We all ran over with the net but just as we put it in the water it got off. It was a big one to!! (double figures i think)

That got me in the spirit and i casted out my dead bait. Seconds later my bubble float (i think thats what its called) dashed off i striked it and had one. This was my second ever pike. This time we landed it, but had trouble getting the hooks out. It wasnt a bad size but i doubt it was double figures. i forgot my weigh sling anyway. It took a while to get the hooks out but eventually we did it, took a few pictures and then let it go in its own time.

A couple of minutes later and my friend had one on his lure. It was pretty big, maybe double figures. this wasnt so hard to unhook because it wasnt right down its throat. We then realised it.

He was about to give the rod to my other friend who was fishing he said "one more cast" and guess what.. he got another, it looked big. unfortunetly it cut his hand. but it was the biggest of the day.

Next my brother got one on the lure, this one wasnt bad either. it was his first pike to!!! (unless the first one which he lost counts) first pike landed..

i decided to set my rod up for a roach (bait) dont think your supposed to but oh well. i hooked it (using one of the methods which i saw on the sight) and casted in. A couple of minutes and it sank, i striked and thought i'd lost it. but then i realised it was just a small one. it turned out to be my smallest yet. :) i was really happy about the day and hope to go again soon. Only this is my reel broke so i might need a new one

I'll try and get some pictures soon its just there on mine and others mobile phones. Sorry if i wrote to much

also my friends lure got stuck on a boat we think :S

Well done on catching them.

If you're having trouble unhooking them have a look at this video. Very helpful.

Don't forget that pike are very fragile, especially in the summer.

Re: My best fishing trip so far
