Smile Pike fishing Somerset

Hi Guys,
Not been on the freshwater forum before as I seafish during the summer months (OK, the occasional day after carp or flyfishing for greyling and trout). However, winter is looming, winds getting up and as I wake I can hear the pike whispering " Jules, Im hungry".
So, anyone been fishing the moors in somerset for pike lately? I normally fish south drain, sedgmoor drain, river parret, brue etc between somerton langport bridgwater street wells area. Often productive but mainly lots of small fish ie up to 10lbs.
Got thursday off and looking forward to 1st trip of the year. Loads of mackeral in the freezer, anyone ever tried frozen sandeels?
Kind regards, Jules.
P.S. the Nimue4 thing? Nimue is the goddess of water and name of my boat. Cheers.

Re: Pike fishing. Somerset.

good luck jules, hope you get some decent action

i've seen people catching on sandeels, but best baits seem to be mackerel, herring, lamprey and sprats but if you were too drop a trout, roach, pollan in front of it i'm pretty sure it'd take them, so as with anything there's no "best" bait.

Mackerel and herring are very oily which pike love and the lamprey are very bloody and smelly, so they're good too.

Are you taking any spinners/lures too?
