hard to catch pike

hi guys , iv recently started fishing a local lake , it used to be used for curling years ago and its quite a un- fished place , theres a few stories at the local tackle shop thatthere are big pike in there ,but iv only caught perch from it using the maggot ,

can anyone tell me a good set up for going for the pike ? iv tried afew lures with no joy , any ideas ??

chuck a live bait on mate roach on the float you cant go wrong or try ledgering a few sea dead baits like smelt my fav or a good half herring

summer months def go more for a spinner

then get those big smelly fish baits out

search through the pike forum and there is alot of good info

a livebait is a good bait where allowed,dont forget to use wire and to strike as soon as you get a take,you dont want a deep hooked fish,
remember pike need a lot of TLC in the summer ,even more so then the winter,
you will find plenty of useful info in the PAC website ,the link is below,

tried herring on a ledger with a marker float , with no joy!!!! , but all ma gear is stinking of the herring now !!!! perch were nibbling it to bits tho . no big boys !!!

need to try some lures and spinners , the pond is very much full of weeds tho

i caught 1 lastnight !!! sadly it was on a worm and i think it was by pure luck it took it , approx 30 inches long 10lbs!!
