Thumbs up begginers luck ( part 2)

After the sea fishing exploits at ladram the night before today was pikeing on the canal with my mate mark( dedicated fly man)

parking at adbrook amoungst all the footy players the plan was to lure fish the stretch from here to doublelocks and on too to lime kilns
weather was ok as we set up watching all the canoeists on time trials

TJ joined us just after 10 and we were away, and that of caourse is when it started raining and the wind picked up

anyway the three of use worked our way along trying several lures. spinners, artificials but to no avail
we got to the more exposed bend 1/2 way to double locks and eventually someone had a fish on
yes you guessed it
mark
not a monster but a pretty jack about 1 1/2 - 2lb( another fish i need for the hunt)

caught on a green shad
( had a nightmare un hooking as too deep and barb on shad was huge( crushed all others now))

so with renewed vigour we thrashed the already stirred water( weather getting horrendous now) to a froth but nothing playing

so the pub was a very very welcome respite
( seeing mark create his own sauna beside the fire was soo funny)
TJ and mark drying out

after this break we picked up all our gear ( leving a very big puddle on pub floor, sorry) it was tough to get started again but we tried all the way back again but no fish and conditions just got worse and worse

It was still a good day out with mates though( nice to meet TJ again its been to long mate)
and renewed my confidence that there are pike still in canal

Thumbs up Re: begginers luck ( part 2)

Nice one guys. I really must come down & try the Exeter Canal. I've driven over it so many times, but never fished it. How much are day tickets?

Sounds like fun despite the weather. Well done to Mark on his pike.
