Any of you guys been pike fishing on the broads of late? last 3 trips out have drawn me a complete blank. in areas where normally can guarentee aa few fish in a day. Was chatting to another guy in the area who said its been dead for him also.

Is it just where I am fishing (river ant) or has it gone quiet all over??

Re: Norfolk Broads

I used to 'proper' fish but moved further away from the coast and now I have rivers/lakes much closer. Will be down with the feathers in summer getting next winters deadbait!

Re: Norfolk Broads

Hi, I fished the Wensum 3rd Feb at Ringland and had two small Jacks, on the 10th I fished the stretch before New mill Yard in the City behind Halfords and had one take but it was tiny and it fell off before the net! Did you see the EDP? Picture of a 29 pounder from the Bure near Wroxham! I'm gutted, getting a boat to hire for the day is proveing hard, everyone seems to be pike fishing now the fish are packing on the weight!
The biggest i've managed this winter is 10lb and times running out on the rivers.

Re: Norfolk Broads

hi lads, the best idea ive found is a good roving approach 2 rods, 20mins a swim then ten yards up the bank, good areas to try are whittlingham lane in the city, or park at ludham bridge and walk either way of it for miles... i did try hickling for 6 days for 1 jackso moved to still waters, at least you know there in there, there are quite a few commercials with some very large pike in that are kept very much under wraps, believe me,but you can find them with a bit of digging, try swanton morley, blickling lake, early though as it gets hammerd later on,catch 22 done a 28lb last year, but remember where there left alone they grow big, so have a wonder, and avoid popular spots, tight lines

The Ant and Barton in particular has been very hard for me this year, more blank days than I care to remember, fished 2 days mid September, not 1 take, did not see any sign of Pike activity this is the first time I've knownthings this bad. Last weekend there was a large Algie Bloom on Barton.
