Re: Boat Fishing for Pike

I had a good session yesterday, i was fishing between Wroxham and Coltishall stoping every 200 yrds or so, i managed to get four fish between 2 and 10lb in the boat but also had another four pike get off! my mate also had one get off, then he couldn't get another bite all day! All but one take were on Smelt the other was on a Joey Mackeral. That was my third trip out and i've managed to boat 9 fish so far to 10lb, no sign of any lumps yet but the hunt continues....

Will

Re: Boat Fishing for Pike

I live in Norwich, the biggest i've ever had is 19lb 9oz, and that was from the Bure, I just love being on that river in the winter, thats all i do fishing wise in the winter, sometimes i head to the Wensum at Ringland for some chub fishing.

Re: Boat Fishing for Pike

quality fish. I hope to break the 20lb barrier this year. Tend to hand around the boat yards at the top of the Ant (parents have a boat moored there) biggest from there so far is 8lb but its early days.

Re: Boat Fishing for Pike

Yeah late Feb early March should be good for a lump or two as they bulk up before spawning, I've fished the Ant a few times but only at Irstead shoals for bream. The pike at the moment seem to be on the main river rather than the boat yards on the Bure, we need a good cold spell, that always gets the biggies on the prowl!
