the canal below double locks is still very weedy so decided to fish the top 1/2 of canal
have walked along here and spun for them with limited sucess( no takes myself but few follows and seen others catch) so thought would give deadbaits a go today
somehow managed to get a fairly fuzzy head out of bed( i hate darts night ) at 6 this morning knocked up butties and a flask without waking mrs or kids and headed off too first swim in waterhouse lane

this would be a great place for anyone with mobility problems as you can see its fishing from boot of car

the view was fantastic as the mist lifted and the sun rose, with the cathedral spire in the distance

sent out 2 baits, both flat ledgered lamprey and garfish

and waited patiently
then the right rod (lamprey)went off on a flyer at about 7.30and after a nice fight( cheered on by some guys coming to work in the factory behind) a very pleasing (but deep hooked ) 10 1/2lber is in the net
quick photo(sorry didnt realise about blood or would have got another shot) by one of these guys, thanks and it swam off well

as you can see in pic the water was now like a mirror and was bright sunshine so i was not as confident now but just as another guy came along too see how was doing off went the garfish rod that was placed right next too that boat in 2nd pic(rude not too really)
and a pretty and fiesty little jack about 2 -3 lb was on the mat

carried on till 10 but nothing else so moved up too clapperbrook area
again another swim for the disabled(funny could have walked there in 1/2 time takes too drive) and set up, you can see the disabled swim in 2nd pic

was here for an hour and was going too start moving baits about when the dreaded phonecall from sons school came and it was game over for today

a pleasant morning and glad to get a result again after bury hill last wekk

dave
looks great location there wouldnt mind trying there myself ,
