Re: pike baits

o yeah and size dont really matter in my opinion when it comes to baits, if a pike sees food it will eat it
i have caught my biggest pike of aroung 7-8lb on worm when both my dad n grandad were fishing next to me with sprats
half of fihsing is down to luck really

Re: pike baits

Eel section is a recognised pike bait, something that can be caught at sea but is part of the natural diet of pike.

I'm no pike expert but as i understand it the oily baits work best. Dont really know if pout and whiting are classed as oily fish!

Great tip - eel for pike bait is often over looked which is a shame

What I do is use a section but also slice the skin to help release the sent

Cannot wait till the weather settles down so I can get out and do some pike fishing - looking for a 25lb one this year

Re: pike baits

went down the norfolk broads sunday, like you said about the severn, still too coloured, got some nice pics of the place though!

a nice looking predatory place, might try some deadbaits down there, seen a lot of preyfish about and also got a follow from a great perch which looked 2lb or so:

the old man trying to tempt some pike:

looks good eh!

Going back on sunday, hopefully catch something then though!
