British Pike Squad 2007 Selection Final Invite

This years BPS Team Selection Final takes place over the weekend of 3rd & 4th of November on the Warwickshire Avon and River Severn. Saturday sees us fish from Twyning to Wood end and on to Mythe farm on the Avon, and Birds meadow to Ripple on the Severn; whilst Sunday’s leg will be fished from Bidford (left bank) to Marcliff A.B.C. and on to Cleeve Prior on the Avon. All these sections of river contain plenty of pike, and loads of differing features and pace of flow.

Plenty of differing situations to test your angling skills to their utmost. Maps and info on all these stretches can be obtained directly from the Birmingham Angling Association website at www.baa.uk.com Registration for the event will be held on Saturday from 8.15am at the Swan Hotel in Stourport On Severn where weigh cards and ID badges will be issued; and all scales checked for accuracy.

Fishing is expected to commence at 11am with the match finishing at 4pm. Meet back at the base after the day's fishing where the results will be posted as quickly as possible. Entry for this years event is £40, inclusive of day tickets for both days, BPS administration fee and pools which will be paid out to the top 3 placed anglers from each day of competition, with a cash prize to the captor of the largest pike overall and the captor of the most pike over the two days.

A tackle prize will be awarded to the captor of the best Zander. ALL CHEQUES MUST be sent to our treasurers Stu and Louise by the end of September. Entries after this date, especially those who wait to pay on the day will be charged £45. So pay early to save yourself that extra Fiver!Please note that due to the nature of the fishing and distances to be covered combined with steep banks in places, that this match does not favour those with disabilities.

You are still more than welcome to come along and compete at your own risk, but be aware of the problems to be faced. Our chosen base will be the Swan Hotel in Stourport On Severn where a special price has been negotiated for BPS members. Single room = £20 for B&B en-suite (Should be £31) Double/Twin/Family = £20 pppn (Should be £47). You must mention that you are part of the BPS when booking to receive these discounts. Book early to avoid disappointment.Further accommodation may also be found at the nearby towns of Bewdley & Kidderminster.
