starting the prep for the trip

well today i started the preparation of my kit for the up and coming french trip
firstly the reels were de-lined and the new 16lb PRO CLEAR (gold label tackle ) WAS LOADED
then my old landing net mesh that has seen better days was taking off and a new 42" greys replacment net was put on
just need a few dry days out side to erect my bivvy to re fabsil it
the rods will get a good wiping over and so will the pod ,the indicators will get a spraying of back to black on them to also make them look all nice a shiny .
then i,ll turn my attention to my box of tricks from which i got my nickname merlin aka baitmaster this is because my box of tricks contains all kind of flavours , natural extracts , essentil oils , powders amino,s bulk fish oils .
blood worm ect ect
this will allow me to try and conjure up a few trcks on the trip to hopefully to fool a fish or two
as for the rig side of of things i,m still in to minds whether to wait to see the water then make them up on the bank or make a few different lengths of knotless knot rigs and d rigs
as for all the other bits and bobs i,ll sort them outr along the way

hows every one elses prepping coming on i know its still 96 days away but its decreasing very rapidly so how it going ??

tightlines
kevin

Re: starting the prep for the trip

Well I have tested the rods and reel, bite alarms and pod. had a snooze on the bed chair, practiced the beer drinking ( repeatedly !).

Started buying the terminal tackle, not tied any rigs, I will wait until we arrive and learn from the experts.

I still intend on getting a night fish in to try all the kit out and make sure I am totally ready.

Could drive up your way Kevin and have a saturday nighter on a carp water near you if you fancy it and you can make sure my gear is not TOO anarchistic!!

Mike

Re: starting the prep for the trip

Though I'm not having the pleasure of joining you guys in France, i'm off for a Week Carp and Catfishing here:http://www.valleelake.com/

One item I really want is a headlight with a red LED option (I keep hinting to kev about getting me one of those flash Deputy Dog hats with the built in LEDS - not red, but my style of hat!)

I said to kev on Friday, he had more lights than Blackpool!

But, I came across this in that well known quality tackle shop - Argos:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...%2Btorches.htm

Got to be worth a look for that price!
