yesterday while in the tackle shop i took time out to look at serveral different lines to spool my reels for france
and i can tell you the choices are vast but heres what i,ve short listed
i,m probably going to go for either the pro clear or maybe the diawa infinity as i can get away with 15lb hooklinks using there 16lb line

DAIWA INFINITY H.T. MONO
New for 2006 this monofil offers super high tensile properties which are virtually unaffected when submerged. Its ultra smooth finish, due to the fluorocarbon coating, assists its casting performance which combined with a significant torque resistance and abrasion tolerance makes it perfect for the rigours of big pit work.

12lb Dia 0.280mm Length 1500m

20lb Dia 0.40mm £19.95

THIS ONE IS ONE OF THE LAKES RECCOMMENDATIONS

GOLD LABEL PRO GOLD MONO
Pro Gold line has very high knot strength and shock absorbency, this allows Pro gold to be used with total confidence whether at extreme range or under the rod tip. Advanced computer control, combined with an impeccable quality control system ensures precise uniform diameters for a consistently reliable line.
Length 1000m
Breaking Strain
8lb Dia 0.28mm £15.95
10lb Dia 0.305mm £16.95
12lb Dia 0.355mm £17.95
15lb Dia 0.38mm £18.95

this also has been reccomemnded by the lake owner .

Extra tough for abrasive conditions. An improved abrasion-resistant formula makes XT even tougher and more durable. XT holds up to rocks, logs, docks, and other cover when other lines won't. More bass tournament pros turn to XT than to any other monofilament.

Re: reel lines

Hi Kev
Have you thought about x-line,its a bit more expensive i know but i have been using it for nearly 3 yrs and i am well pleased with it.
It sinks like a brick and has good abrasion proof properties and also doesnt have too much stretch in it like most monos.
Admittedly the weight of it may cost you a bit of distance on the cast.
Daiwa sensor seems to be a very popular line but i cant claim to of used it
but on other forums i have read that a lot of people do use it and rate it highly and its quite cheap.
Suffix synergy is a line that i used for a while and had no problems with.
Sometimes i wonder is there really that much difference between a lot of the lines on the market other than the name and the marketing claims.

Re: reel lines

Currently using shimano technium line in 12lb, sinks well, very hard to see in water and has much less stretch than most monos.

Top line.
