fishy's input part 2

wednesday dawned full of hope , the previous couple of days had provided some monsters and we hoped it would continue
at 0530 while i was baiting up i heard from across the lake the exclamation " OH MY GOD " come from steve
he had caught a zoo creature as well,
he caught it all on his own and all credit to him for that,it was a collosal 52 lb mirror , superb angling mate,
sport died off after that, the fish started spawning with more intensity and bites became a rarity
late morning, a couple of the lads took the opportunity to nip into town for a while, kev, dan, mike and myself stayed
at about 12 i had a fast take on my left hand rod which immeadiately took 50 yards of line off the reel,i started to gain
some back only for it to take another 50 yards and then snag me, it was about now adam from the management came down and said i was connected to one of the lakes big cats which grow to 130 lb, i couldn't move it so we took to the boat,we recovered a lot of the line and unsnagged the lead, just as i tightened down to the fish the line parted, what a shame,i would have liked to have seen it just the once, but to be honest i didn't have much chance of landing it on a 15lb hooklength
just as a consolation i had a screaming run on the same rod a couple of hours later and after a difficult 10 minute fight i landed a lovely 27lb common

followed very quickly
by another beautiful fish, this time a 26lb 8 oz mirror,

its strange how quickly you forget losing a biggie.
after tea a bit of chopping and changing went on to allow some of the lads in the swims that were quiet to get the chance of a carp, dave joined me and dan joined steve,
it was about now that steve had a brief encounter with a big cat,he said the same as me,the strongest fish he had ever hooked, that one broke the line as well.
dave was into a fish soon after the change but it slipped the hook 10 foot from the net
dan fared better,he landed a plated mirror of 24lb and another mirror of 26lb,well done, and all this time mike is still sticking it out in his barren swim.

thursday dawned on the cry we all wanted to hear, mike had a fish on, at long last, a good strong run had seen him connect with one of the torpedo like sturgeon,
he skilfully landed it and it pushed the scales down to a satisfying 15lb 8oz, if ever somebody deserved a fish it was mike, very well done mate

spawning now was in full swing and the odds on getting a carp were slim, we sat it out without any joy,
dan managed a lovely mirror of 31lb 8oz at 8 in the evening but that was it,

friday came and went without any fish at all, it was so hot as well,a couple of us went shopping but with a long drive ahead the next morning some fished and some slept,i chose sleep, kev fished on and was rewarded for his patience with a nice 22lb mirror right at the last knockings on saturday morning

well quite a week,we had some lovely weather, some lovely scenery and super company, we ended up with 656 lb 5 oz of fish which sounds a lot but without the spawning we could have easily doubled it.
we all came away with pb's and special memories, something i will never forget, thanks you guys for making it a great week.
