paradise lakes, fishy's input

well what a week,a whole lot of miles, was it worth it ??? you bet it was !!
we all came back with pb's of some sort
i wrote a report out on the bank as we fished and it turned out to be a four or five page epic which would take forever to write
i will try to shorten it somewhat,
i will do it in two parts, this one will be the first 4 days
fishing didn't start until saturday evening,we had a long day travelling and the serious stuff wasn't going to start until the morning, sleep was the order of the day as we were all knackered,so it was no surprise that none of us had any fish by first light
the briefing by tony and adam ( the management ) the previous evening gave us the info we needed,to catch in good numbers, the method is to take large quantities of pellets out and feed a marked area, then put your baits amonst it,
unfortunately the fish were in spawning mood and this method barely worked all week
kev got the ball rolling at around 0800 with a nice mirror of 27lb 4oz and followed it up later in the morning with a sturgeon of 35lb which gave him a superb fight , well done kev
the rest of the day was quiet with little action, soon after tea steve got off the mark with probably one of the smallest fish on the lake 14lb 6oz and followed it with an even smaller one of 13lb a couple of hours later
nice way to finsh the day
tuesday started with a bang for me,at 0600 i had a swift take on my left hand rod fished down the margins ,it felt heavy but didn't fight a great deal and dave soon netted it
first guesses in the water was that it weighed about 25 lb,dave soon changed that when he tried to lift the net,it was built like a medicine ball, short dumpy and very heavy, the first time ever my avon scales were bottomed out, it eventually turned the scales at 40lb 4oz, what a donkey !!!

later in the morning i had another take this time a mirror of 18lb 12oz , not to be outdone steve landed a beautiful 23lb 4oz common,
it was now kevs turn again his swim was becoming busy,he landed a nice mirror of 36lb 8oz ,another cracking fish
at four in the afternoon kev had another take and it became obvious that he was connected to a very heavy specimin,he had a few heart stopping moments but once safely netted it looked enormous,it thumped the scales down to an incredible 54lb,what a zoo creature,i have never seen a carp as big as that in my life, well done mate
the evening finished with kev getting another sturgeon this time at 15lb 12oz
tuesday started early when i got a call from dave,he was in,he had a sturgeon , it was a beauty and pulled the scales down to 21lb,he was delighted, but why at 2 am ??
what a time to get your old mate out of his pit ???
by first light all was still, nobody had caught since dave when dan ( who had been having a lay in ) had a screaming run, this fish didn't want to give up and dan was looking a little nervous while he played his potential pb.the long fight was finally over when kev slipped the net under a whopping 34 lb mirror, well done mate, certainly the best alarm call he has ever had,

fishing tailed off a little after that, the wind changed to a northerly direction,it was a nice warm day so some of the lads went into town,i got my head down and mike fished on.
with renewed enthusiasm we cast out in the evening, much more confident now the daytime heat had gone,
within 10 minutes of the restart i was into a fish which gave a slow ponderous fight and weighed in at 17lb 8 oz,while i was doing this steve was also in,he had a bit of a battle with a superb 24lb 3oz beach ball mirror that tangled him in a frightful mess,in reply i had a mirror of 17lb,which proved to be the last fish of the evening,
once we were all settled in our pits dave did his middle of the night thing again and i got another call at stupid o'clock telling me he had a catfish,
it wasn't the prettiest fish i had ever seen but was certainly the slimiest,it went 21lb,well done mate.

steve fished off the night with a 19 lb mirror at 0200
all this time mike fished on without complaint in a swim which seemed at times devoid of fish, but in a lake with only 7 swims your options are limited
