Saw on the network news that Cricket is becomming quite popular in southern California.
Lots of Indian nationals working in the Tech & Computer industries have started Cricket clubs for their kids, and their yankee friends are starting to notice and pick it up too.
Its a looong way to Nebraska (we're about 3-4 years behind the coasts), that prob. means we'll see it soon.
Soccer (football) has taken off at some high schools here.

On second thoughts it might work especially as there is plenty of time between balls for the TV companies to run adverts

Can't be any worse than Our football as it is now. An hour "pre-game show" with a bunch of washed up jocks telling us what we're going to see. The actual game starts and runs for 3 hours and then runs over for almost an hour. Than an hour post game "wrap-up show" to tell us what we just saw. With 3 to 5 minutes of comercials every 7 to 12 minutes through-out.
