| Good day out off Fleetwood. Well we got out on the Seahog on Saturday (4th Sept). There was a bit of wind blowing and the sea was a bit choppy but the fishing wasn't too uncomfortable. We headed towards Barrow and anchored about a mile North of the Dumper Buoy and stayed there all day! Plenty of Dabs coming on board to different baits (fresh & frozen lug, sprat, prawn) We even had a few small Tope on lug! I tackled a rod up for Tope and caught lots of Dogfish 3 Tope and the best fish of the day a beautifully marked Bull Huss of aroud 9lb which fought like hell.We also had some Gurnard, mainly small but one cracker which my mate took for the pot.All undersized fish were returned unharmed to the water to gain a bit of weight for future trips. We had to come in at 4 o clock as the skipper had to get home for an evening out, but we were still catching thick & fast as the anchor eventually had to come up. Brilliant day out! Steve. |
