| Quiet with fishing in Norway atm... Well, it is the time of the year that no-one wants to go fishing at sea for fun. Professionals however have their busyest season now. Cod and coalfish are coming closer to shore in large amounts - not in heavy weights per fish but in big amounts - that is what interests professional fisherman. It's dark, only 5 hours of good daylight and its getting darker until to almost middle of December when the sun does not come above horizon any more. It comes back around mid of January. So it's dark, hazy, wet, cold and nasty. At place where i live ( about 210 miles away from Arctic Sea & Norway) it is mainly cold, snowy. And dark too. For those of you wondering how it is like when the sun does not shine: it looks like very late afternoon, around sunset. It's like that between 10am - 2pm. It is very annoying too, as it is dark at 8am when you go to work and it is dark again at 4 pm when you get out off work. Darkness is something different here in Lapland & Norway, as there is no "light pollution" from big cities etc... So its DARK. I'm looking forward to go to Norway again in March, when big Skrei http://hjem.get2net.dk/vofl/Lilbaek/Lofoten/skrei1.html gets close to shore. That's the time to break records!! At the site i pasted they say Skrei comes only around Lofoten, but that's not the deal, those fishes are available also at places that have open sea around. And i am planning to go to one of those spots. Of course i will keep you up to date - online updates will follow when i am out there! While waiting for news, feel free to read our older fishing stories. I made an update recently to our english site. |
